Comprehensive epilepsy support is available for those with epilepsy and those who support them, who may require additional time and support. Epilepsy Foundation’s Support Service is person-centred and focused on building the capacity of the person with epilepsy and those who support them. Support goals will be identified with your Epilepsy Advisor and worked towards during the period of support provision.

Our experienced Epilepsy Advisors are here to work alongside individuals, families, and support networks.
What supports we provide:
- Individualised support to help people with epilepsy thrive at home, in relationships, at school, and in the workplace
- Development of Epilepsy Management Plans (EMPs) and Emergency Medication Management Plans (EMMPs) (or FND plans)
- Guidance on self-management strategies to support independence and confidence
- Empower you to build self-advocacy skills
- Support around safety planning and risk management strategies for various environments
- Support you to liaise or consult with medical and educational professionals
- Information regarding epilepsy-related funding applications
- An Advisor will refer or signpost you to another service for support with issues outside our scope of practice

What supports we don’t provide
While we aim to offer comprehensive support, there are some services we’re unfortunately not able to provide directly. These include:
- Support coordination or case management
- Formal counselling
- Provision of medical advice, including treatment options or diagnoses (general information and considerations can be provided)
- Recommendation of specific seizure monitors or other equipment (general information and considerations can be provided)
- Recommendation of a specific medical practitioner
- Legal advice or representation
- Advocacy services
- Funding support (e.g. medication, equipment)
- Completing application forms (e.g. Centrelink, NDIS, DSP)
- Crisis support (homelessness, financial support)
- Occupational therapy services
