People in their later years are fast becoming one of the largest population groups as this population group is generally living longer. However, with increasing age also comes an increasing risk of developing epilepsy.
What this means is that almost a quarter of cases of new onset epilepsy are experienced by people in their later years. People in their later years living in nursing homes have been reported to have the highest occurrence of seizure incidence compared with the wider community
